Return to Home The Shadork Realm - Lion

Lion

That's not her biological name, no. It's Maya. Maya Cloverfield. It is no wonder that Lion changed her name around the time she fled her home when she were younger - and picked out a new name with the child's mentality of 'what is the fiercest, most admirable animal she knew?'

Once an ordinary girl of a mundanely-shitty background, she found refuge in the Underground where few dared to venture and fewer were willing to make a home out of.

But she wasn't alone, nor was she the one to found the gang (name here). Lion found herself among those likeminded in finding themselves on the fringes of society, whether by choice or - much more often - unwillingly. However, when disenfranchised - how much choice do you really have in the first place?

Lion has a close bond with them, forged through countless years with only each-other as company. Though it doesn't seem that way given Lion's cold personality, she's certainly more casual around her gang, along with being strangely willing to go along with their sillier ideas.

Ironically, their location and knowledge of the Underground made them more prosperous than even most guilds in the Realm. They act as gatekeepers in a way, fighting back monsters on one side and collecting Adventurers' tolls on the other.

Despite Lion's isolationist tendencies, she was elected the leader and spokeswoman for the gang anyways. The vote was near-unanimous. Not only among the small group did nobody else actually want to shoulder that burden, but Lion was also the most 'presentable' among the lot - being a well-spoken young woman with no (apparent) criminal record.

It quickly becomes apparent that the gang lives and dies by Lion, and she prefers it that way. Her distrust of other people prevents recruitment of fresh blood nor expansion out of their original location. They live in a prosperous squalor, a veritable dumpster of gold and food scraps. Diamonds and no blacksmiths to utilize them. Books are occasionally found, however.

This is contentious among some of Lion's friends, however. For those who joined out of material desperation, the gang's unexpected success has given them increased confidence, increased hope. Ones like those really put the pressure on her as time goes on.

Lion herself has an interesting manner; she is softspoken, yet firm in her words. Her actions, however, can often be traced back to spite. Especially if one can figure out what makes her tick and how that relates to her actions.

What happens when said spite conflicts with her fondness for her friends, however, is up in the air. Several human factors make few things a guarantee.

Hell, she might even make a completely ridiculous decision to throw off an 'enemy.' Lion loathes being considered, called predictable.

Lion is arguably the character least susceptible to extensive trauma...

...if only because she's buried so deep within herself that she can't even begin to identify what is wrong.

When does the self-sustaining engine of hate run out? Is such a thing even possible? And if so, what happens after...?
